A Pirate went to Sea
(sung to "A Sailor went to Sea, Sea, Sea")

A pirate went to sea, sea, sea
(move hands in curving motion to show ocean waves)
To see what he could see, see, see
(place hand above eye and look around)
And all that he could see, see, see
(place hand above eye and look around)
Was the bottom of the deep blue sea, sea, sea
(move hands in curving motion to show ocean waves)

Over the Deep Blue Sea
by Susan Salidor

When I was one, I had some fun, on the day I went to sea
I jumped abroad a pirate ship, and the captain said to me
He said go this way, that way, forward, backward, and over the deep blue sea

When I was two, I tied my shoe, on the day I went to sea
I jumped abroad a pirate ship, and the captain said to me
He said go this way, that way, forward, backward, and over the deep blue sea

When I was three, I skinned my knee, on the day I went to sea
I jumped abroad a pirate ship, and the captain said to me
He said go this way, that way, forward, backward, and over the deep blue sea

When I was four, I closed the door, on the day I went to sea
I jumped abroad a pirate ship, and the captain said to me
He said go this way, that way, forward, backward, and over the deep blue sea

When I was five, I did some hand jive, on the day I went to sea
I jumped abroad a pirate ship, and the captain said to me
He said go this way, that way, forward, backward, and over the deep blue sea

Luckily for the animals, Wolf is hungry for pancakes -- his favorite!

I found a cute story on YouTube called Hermie the Worm.  The children participated by saying the phrase "yum, yum, yum," and "do-whop, do-whop".  I used a green balloon to demonstrate the increasing size of Hermie.

Hermie the Worm

I was sittin' on a park bench
Chewin' my bubblegum
(yum, yum, yum)
Playin' with my yo-yo
(do-whop, do-whop)
when along came Hermie the Worm
and he was this big
(blow-up balloon to the size of an apple)
and I said "Hermie, what happened?"
and he said "I swallowed an apple".

Start from the first verse again..

Hermie continues to get bigger and bigger as he eats different fruits,... banana, orange, grapes, strawberries, and a peach.

The end:

I was sittin' on a parkbench
chewin' my bubblegum
(yum, yum, yum)
playin' with my yo-yo
(do-whop, do-whop)
when along came Hermie the Worm
and he was this big
(Let the air out of balloon.)
and I said "Hermie, what happened?"
and he said "I burped".

The Wheels On The Bus...

Storytime Books:

Mary Had a Little Lamb

Mary Had A Little Lamb by Mary Ann Hoberman

Summary:  This expanded version of the traditional rhyme shows what happens after the lamb gets to school.  Includes music on the last page.

Mother Goose  Rhyme:

Mary Had A Little Lamb

Mary had a little lamb.
Its fleece was white as snow;
And everywhere that Mary went,
The lamb was sure to go.

It followed her to school one day,
Which was against the rules;
It made the children laugh and play,
To see a lamb at school.

Cornelius P. Mud, Are You Ready for School?

Summary:  Cornelius the pig has his own style when preparing for school in the morning, but he does not really feel ready until he gets a kiss.

This Is The Way

This is the way we wash our hands,
Wash our hands, wash our hands.
This is the way we wash our hands,
So early in the morning.

This is the way we wash our face,
Wash our face, wash our face.
This is the way we wash our face,
So early in the morning.

This is the way we brush our teeth,
Brush our teeth, brush our teeth.
This is the way we brush our teeth,
So early in the morning.

This is the way we brush our hair,
Brush our hair, brush our hair.
This is the way we brush our hair,
So early in the morning.

This is the way we wave goodbye,
Wave goodbye, wave goodbye.
This is the way we wave goodbye,
So early in the morning.

(Use hand motions)

Yes, but what's on the bus?  Lots of adorable animals!  And they're not staying quiet.  The lion roars; the monkeys chatter.  The hyenas think the whole scene is ridiculous and are laughing hysterically.  Watch out for the crocodile, whose jaws go snap, snap, snap!

Traditional Song:
The Wheels On The Bus

The wheels on the bus go round and round
Round and round, round and round
The wheel on the bus go round and round
All through the town.
(Roll hands over each other)

The people on the bus go up and down
Up and down, up and down
The people on the bus go up and down
All through the town.
(Raise hands high and low)

The horn on the bus goes "Beep, beep, beep
Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep"
The horn on the bus goes "Beep, beep, beep"
All through the town.
(Pretend to honk horn)

The wipers on the bus goes "Swish, swish, swish
Swish, swish, swish, swish, swish, swish"
The wipers on the bus goes "Swish, swish, swish"
All through the town.
